Pinellas County Schools Calendar For 2024-25: Key Dates To Know

PINELLAS COUNTY, FL — Summer is almost over for Pinellas County Schools students. The first day of the 2024-25 school year is Monday, Aug. 12.

Teachers are already back in the classroom preparing to welcome back students. Pinellas County Schools hired more than 400 new teachers from across the state and country — many of them PCS alums — for the new school year, according to a news release.

The district welcomes a new school this year, Mangrove Bay Middle School, a health and wellness leadership magnet school, which serves about 500 students in grades 6 through 8. The school, a partnership with the Speer YMCA, sits on 19 acres on the site of the former Riviera Middle School at 501 62nd Ave. NE in St. Petersburg.

Pinellas County Schools also added 20 electric school buses to its fleet this school year. The buses were purchased using a $5.5 million grant from a 2016 settlement between Volkswagen and the Department of Justice over the vehicle manufacturer’s emissions violations, which a judge ruled violated the Clean Air Act, the district said.

• Professional development day, no school: Oct. 14
• Election Day: Tuesday, Nov. 5
• Thanksgiving break: Nov. 25-29
• End of First Quarter: Oct. 11
• End of Second Quarter: Dec. 20
• Winter break: Dec. 23-Jan. 3
• Martin Luther King Jr. Day, no school: Jan. 2
• Start of Second Semester: Jan. 7
• Presidents Day, no school: Feb. 17
• End of Third Quarter: March 14
• Spring break: March 17-21
• End of Fourth Quarter: May 29
