ST. PETERSBURG, FL — Tickets for the Tampa Bay Rays spring training go on sale Tuesday, March 15, a Major League Baseball press release said.

Less than a week ago, fans didn't think spring training games would happen because of the ongoing disagreements at the time between the MLB and the Major League Players' Association. That all changed Thursday when the MLB said an agreement had been reached on a five-year labor contract for players.

Following, Rays' players reported to Port Charlotte Sunday for spring training workouts. Friday the team will have its first spring training game as they take on the Boston Red Sox in Fort Myers. Spring training delays and Opening Day delays caused by the three-month lockout caused the team to revise their practice schedule and Opening day.

The new spring training schedule has 18 official Grapefruit League games, including nine home games at Charlotte Sports Park, and one home game at Tropicana Field. The Rays will face five opponents in a regionalized schedule: the Atlanta Braves, Baltimore Orioles, Boston Red Sox, Minnesota Twins and Pittsburgh Pirates, the team said.

Monday, the Rays completed their second spring training workout after they reported to Port Charlotte Sunday. Saturday's home opener on Saturday, March 19, will be against the 2021 World Series Champions, the Atlanta Braves.
