Sandbag Sites Open In Pinellas County

Pinellas County has opened sandbag locations to help local residents weather Tropical Storm Emily.

ST. PETERSBURG, FL — Pinellas County residents in flood-prone areas will find help available as Tropical Storm Emily eyes the region. The county has announced the opening of three sandbag locations for Monday, July 31.

Pinellas County residents can pick up sandbag materials at three locations until sunset July 31:

  • John Chesnut Park, 2200 East Lake Road, Palm Harbor
  • Lealman Community Park, 3890 55th Ave. N., St. Petersburg
  • Taylor Park, 1100 Eighth Ave. S.W., Largo

Residents need to fill and transport their own sandbags. The county does provide shovels, sands and bags. A limit of 20 bags per household is observed.

Tropical Storm Emily formed off the Tampa Bay area’s coastline in the overnight hours. As of Monday morning, the storm was packing maximum sustained winds of 45 mph.
