Sandbags Available Across Tampa Bay As Tropical System Approaches FL
Find out where you can get free sandbags in your Tampa Bay-area city ahead of the tropical system moving toward Florida this weekend.
TAMPA BAY, FL — With a tropical system approaching Florida’s west coast this weekend, sites throughout the Tampa Bay area are offering sandbags to residents.
Here’s where you can find sandbags in your city:
Dunedin

Sandbags are available at Highlander Park Friday, noon to 7 p.m., and Saturday, 8 a.m. to noon. There is a limit of 15 bags per resident or business owner. Proof of residency is required.
Gulfport

Sandbags are available at the 49th Street Neighborhood Center, 1617 49th Street S., on Friday, noon to 6 p.m. There is a 10-bag limit and proof of residency may be required.
Hillsborough County
Residents of unincorporated Hillsborough County can pick up sandbags from the following locations:
- Edward Medard Conservation Park, 6140 Turkey Creek Road, Plant City
- E.G. Simmons Conservation Park, 2401 19th Ave. NW, Ruskin
- Ed Radice Sports Complex, 14720 Ed Radice Drive, Tampa
- Larry Sanders Sports Complex, 5855 S. 78th Street, Tampa
The sites will be open Friday, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Saturday, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Residents are eligible for up to 10 sandbags per family. Identification is required.
Pinellas County
Residents of unincorporated Pinellas County can pick up free, pre-filled sandbags at the Household Hazardous Waste facility, 2855 109th Ave. N., St. Petersburg, on Monday through Friday, 6 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Saturday, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. There’s a limit of 10 sandbags per household.
St. Petersburg
The year-round sandbag location at the Pavement and Traffic Operations Building, 1744 9th Ave. N., closed ahead of the storm.
The following emergency sandbag locations are open Friday and Saturday, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.:
- Dell Homes Park, 2741 22nd Street S. (self-service)
- Fossil Park, northernmost parking lot, 6875 Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Street (self-service)
- Lake Maggiore Park, shelter area, 3601 Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Street S. (full-service)
- Northeast Park, east baseball field parking lot, 955 62nd Ave. N. (full-service)
- Northwest Swimming Pool, parking lot, 2331 60th Street N. (full-service)
- Walter Fuller Soccer Field, parking lot, 2800 75th Street N. (self-service)
Each household is eligible for up to 10 sandbags. Proof of residency is required.
Tampa
Sandbag sites are open at three Tampa Parks & Recreation facilities on Friday until 7 p.m. and Saturday, 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.:
- Al Barnes Park, 2902 N. 32nd Street
- Al Lopez Park, 4180 N. Himes Ave.
- Himes Avenue Complex, 4501 S. Himes Ave.
There is a limit of 10 bags per household and identification is required.
