Sandbags Available In Some Pinellas County Cities Ahead Of FL Storms
St. Petersburg, St. Pete Beach, Madeira Beach, Clearwater among Pinellas County cities giving sandbags to residents ahead of Tuesday storm.

ST. PETERSBURG, FL — With a strong low-pressure system moving across Florida starting Monday, some Pinellas County cities are offering sandbags to residents.
The worst of the weather will affect the Tampa Bay area Tuesday afternoon into the evening and overnight.
There’s already a Coastal Flood Watch and Gale Watch along the coast, according to the National Weather Service’s Tampa Bay office. A severe thunderstorm risk is in effect for the area, as well.

In addition to flooding downpours, the biggest threats from the storms are damaging winds, isolated tornadoes and large hail, the agency said.
In St. Petersburg, the following city-operated sandbag sites are open Monday through 6 p.m.:- Stormwater Pavement Traffic Operations Headquarters, 1744 9th Ave. N.
- Mangrove Bay Golf Course, 875 62nd Ave. NE
- Lake Maggiore Shelter Area, 3601 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Street S.
City crews also delivered sandbags door-to-door in the Shore Acres and Riviera Bay neighborhoods, which are prone to flooding.

In the city of St. Pete Beach, self-service sandbags are available for free at Egan Park. Additional loads will be available Monday afternoon.
The city of Madeira Beach has sand bags available at the filling station at the Public Works Yard in the Madeira Beach Municipal Marina. The self-service station isn’t manned by city staff, but has shovels available.
The city of Clearwater will also have sand available for bagging at Joe DiMaggio Park and the lot north of the Clearwater Beach Recreation Complex starting Monday at 3 p.m.
Residents should bring their own supplies Monday, but staff will provide some bags Tuesday, though residents should bring their own shovel or a way to load them.
