Scooter Driver Killed In St. Pete Hit-And-Run On 34th Street: Cops

Investigators are asking for the public's help identifying the driver of a light blue Toyota Avalon who fatally hit a person Sunday morning.

ST. PETERSBURG, FL — A fatal hit-and-run crash occurred Sunday morning on 34th Street North, a St. Pete police news release said.

According to authorities, a light blue Toyota Avalon hit a person on a black electric scooter in a northbound lane on 34th Street North near 35th Avenue North at about 2:53 a.m. The car then drove away.

Police said the Toyota does not have tinted windows and it appears to be an older body style with damage to the front driver's side and the front windshield.

The identity of the victim is being withheld until next of kin is notified, police said.

Police have not released a photo of the vehicle.
