St. Pete Trash Pickup Affected By Veterans Day

Because Veterans Day 2017 falls on a Saturday, the City of St. Petersburg will close on Friday, Nov. 10.

ST. PETERSBURG, FL – While Veterans Day 2017 falls on a Saturday, the City of St. Petersburg will observe the holiday on Friday, Nov. 10.

During the week of Nov. 6-10, St. Petersburg will change trash and recycling collection days for St. Petersburg residential utility customers:

  • Thursday collections will be made Wednesday
  • Friday collections will be made Thursday
  • Recycling collections for Zone 6B (orange) will be picked up Wednesday
  • Recycling collections for Zone 8B (blue) will be picked up Thursday.

This is a change from the 2017 residential recycling calendar for those zones that was mailed to residents because of the city’s observance of Veterans Day on Nov. 10. Monday and Tuesday collections will remain the same.

Other government facilities closed on Nov. 10 include:

  • City Hall and Municipal Services Center
  • Community libraries (as well as Saturday, Nov. 11)
  • The Greenhouse
  • Enoch Davis Center
  • Sunshine Center
  • Dwight H. Jones Neighborhood Center
  • Jamestown Apartments and Townhomes office
  • Coliseum
  • Sunken Gardens’ business offices

  • Mangrove Bay, Cypress Links and Twin Brooks golf courses
  • Sunken Gardens
  • North Shore Aquatic Complex
  • Mahaffey Theater Box Office
  • Municipal Marina Ship’s Store
  • Recreation centers
  • Brush sites
  • St. Petersburg Beach Concession Stand, Treasure Island

For water or sewer emergencies on Friday, Nov. 10, call the Water Resources Department at (727) 893-7261. For police, fire or medical emergencies, call 9-1-1.

Veterans Day Events

  • St. Petersburg will host its fourth annual Veterans Day Celebration on Saturday, Nov. 11 at 8 a.m. in Williams Park, on the corner of Fourth Street and First Avenue North. Two local 2017 Honored Veteran awards will be presented to U.S. military veterans Carrie W. Nero and Charles Claybaker.
  • Sunken Gardens, 1825 Fourth St. N., will offer free admission for U.S. Military Veterans and active military members with ID on Saturday, Nov. 11.
