St. Petersburg Opens Sandbag Location

The city of St. Petersburg is offering residents sandbags as Tropical Storm Emily makes herself known in the region.

ST. PETERSBURG, FL — St. Petersburg residents in flood-prone areas will find help available as Tropical Storm Emily enters the region. The city has announced the opening of one sandbag location for Monday, July 31.

St. Petersburg residents can pick up sandbags at the city’s Traffic Operations Building at 1744 Ninth Ave. N.

“City staff will have signs on Ninth Avenue directing residents to the site,” an email from the city said.

Tropical Storm Emily formed off the Tampa Bay area’s coastline in the early morning hours. As of late Monday morning, the storm was packing maximum sustained winds of 45 mph.
