Enrollment For Acting Camp Taught By St. Petersburg Professionals Opens To Children

ST. PETERSBURG, FL — If there's a budding performer in your household, American Stage Education has recently opened its summer camp enrollment for kids and teenagers.

According to staff at American Stage, students will experience theatre activities such as choreography, staging, ensemble exercises and music in the classroom during camp that begins in June.

“Campers will have the opportunity to learn more about areas of interest within the world of theatre and develop as artists, all while learning life skills such as collaboration, communication, and self-accountability,” John Perez, American Stage Education and Engagement associate, said.

Kids of all levels are welcome, and no prior experience is required, Perez said.

Classes will be taught by professional teaching artists with backgrounds in cultural competency and inclusion to assist students strengthening creative, intellectual and emotional growth.

"We have week-long sessions in areas of comedy, musical theater, playwriting, and more," Perez said. "And with offerings for campers from kindergarten through high school seniors, we’re confident that we can help everyone ignite their creative voice."

Camp sessions run Monday through Friday from 9 a.m.- 3 p.m. at Admiral Farragut Academy. Students will rehearse on stage and spend time in a classroom.

Pre-care and after-care options are available as requested. Financial aid applications are available for those in need. American Stage offers a 10 percent discount for military families and teachers.
