These Are The Best Schools In FL: 2023 Rankings
A number of Florida high schools, middle schools, elementary schools, and colleges and universities ranked high in 2023.
FLORIDA — Throughout the year, various publications release “best of” lists to help guide Florida residents’ educational choices, from the best elementary schools to the best colleges and universities to pursue a graduate degree.
Florida figured prominently in several data analyses and study-driven rankings for education, from U.S. News & World Report, Niche, Newsweek and others. Some highlights:
According to U.S. News, Florida boasts several of the best high schools, middle schools and elementary schools. The School for Advanced Studies in Miami even landed at No. 3 on the national list for top high schools in the country.

In Florida, the top five high schools are:
- School for Advanced Studies, Miami-Dade County Public Schools, Miami
- Pine View School, Sarasota County Schools, Osprey
- Archimedean Upper Conservatory Charter School, Miami
- Westshore Junior/Senior High School, Melbourne, Brevard Public Schools
- Marine Academy of Science and Technology, North Miami, Miami-Dade County Public Schools
U.S. News also weighed in on the top elementary and middle schools in the Sunshine State.

The top five elementary schools are:
- Jacksonville Beach Elementary School, Duval County Public Schools
- Pine View School, Sarasota County Schools
- Academy Miramar South, Broward County Public Schools
- Orlando Gifted Academy, Orange County Public Schools
- Morikami Park Elementary School, The School District of Palm Beach County
The top five middle schools in Florida are:
- Doral Academy of Technology, Miami-Dade County Public Schools
- Okaloosa Stemm Center, Okaloosa County School District
- Pine View School, Sarasota County Schools
- West Shore Junior/Senior High School, Brevard Public Schools
- The Sanibel School, Lee County School District

The ranking and review site Niche also weighed in on the best school districts and colleges.
Sarasota County Schools was named the best school district in the state, while the University of Florida in Gainesville was the state’s top college, according to the site.

Fourteen schools in Florida were among the about 350 nationwide that were designated National Blue Ribbon Schools by the Department of Education.
Another government report, the Nation’s Report Card from the National Center for Education Statistics, said math and reading scores for Florida’s fourth- and eighth-graders saw a dip in math and reading scores between 2019 and 2022.
Finally, Money magazine’s list of the best colleges included 17 Florida institutions.
