These Major FL Towns Ideal For Thanksgiving Celebrations, Experts Say

With its high number of pumpkin patches and holiday decor shops, Thanksgiving is best spent in these Florida towns, WalletHub says.

FLORIDA — It is almost thyme for Turkey Day, and experts say six Florida towns rank among the top places to celebrate Thanksgiving.

Floridians will be feasting on turkey and trimmings as Thanksgiving flies into town Thursday.

Orlando outranked any other Florida city to land 10th on a top 100 list of Best Places to Go for Thanksgiving, gobbling up its competition. The survey was conducted by the personal finance agency WalletHub.

Experts used 18 key metrics, including weather forecasts and flight delays, to determine rankings for its recent holiday survey.

Orlando's score was as follows: 59.27 overall, 10 for celebrations and traditions, 28 for affordability, 52 for safety and accessibility, 50 for giving thanks and 69 for weather forecast.

San Diego, California and Atlanta, Georgia surpassed all of the list's contestants to fill the first and second spots respectively.

“The best cities for celebrating Thanksgiving all have an abundance of high-quality restaurants and places to buy festive decorations, and their residents get very excited for the holiday based on their Google search history," WalletHub Analyst Chip Lupo said in the report. "Other features make individual cities stand out; for example, San Diego has great weather, Atlanta has a fantastic track record for on-time flights, and San Francisco has surprisingly affordable accommodations.”

Other Florida towns that could be perfect for Thanksgiving gatherings are Miami (No. 28), Tampa, (No. 41), St. Petersburg (No. 49), Jacksonville (No. 64) and Hialeah (No. 99).

Miami is home to the one of the most pumpkin patches per capita while Jacksonville has one of the least amount, per the ranking.

Orlando and Tampa tied with three other cities for the highest number of holiday decorations shops per capita.
