UPDATE: Woman Runs Central Avenue Light, Trolley Plows Into Van: Cops

St. Pete police investigated a crash involving a city trolley and a van that caused one of the drivers to have critical injuries Wednesday.

ST. PETERSBURG, FL — A 70-year-old woman is in critical condition after a city trolley plowed into her Chrysler Pacifica when she ran a red light at Central Avenue and 16th Street North Wednesday, St. Pete police said.

The trolley headed westbound on Central Avenue and had the green light at the time of the crash, police said.

The trolley hit the passenger side of the Pacifica at 10:05 a.m., police said.

Drivers had delays throughout Wednesday as a portion of Central Avenue was closed as police investigated the crash.
