79-Year-Old Man, Dog Die Following Crash In Tarpon Springs
A 79-year-old Tarpon Springs man and his dog died Tuesday following a crash on U.S. 19 North in the area of Anderson Park.
TARPON SPRINGS, FL — A 79-year-old Tarpon Springs man and his dog died Tuesday following a crash on U.S. 19 North in the area of Anderson Park, just north of Klosterman Road.
At 2:22 p.m., Tarpon Springs police officers responded to a two-vehicle crash and found that a blue Toyota pickup truck that was traveling north on U.S. 19 had been struck in the driver's side front end by a white Toyota that was traveling south on U.S. 19, attempting to make a turn in front of Anderson Park.
As a result of the crash, the white Toyota flipped and the blue Toyota continued and struck a concrete power pole. Both drivers were trapped in their vehicles and had to be extricated.

The driver of the blue Toyota was a 17-year-old boy from Tarpon Springs, who was taken to All Childrens Hospital in St. Petersburg in stable condition.
The 79-year-old man was pronounced dead at Advent Health of North Pinellas at 4:09 p.m. His dog was dead when officers arrived at the scene.
