Car Crashes Into Tarpon Springs House
A house on South Disston Avenue was damaged in an early Tuesday morning crash.

TARPON SPRINGS, FL β People inside a South Disston Avenue home in Tarpon Springs got a rude awakening Tuesday morning when a car crashed into their home.
According to the Tarpon Springs Police Department, the single-vehicle wreck occurred before 1 a.m. Jan. 3 in the 1200 block of South Disston Avenue. When officers arrived at the home, they learned that a 2009 Ford Edge crashed into the property, causing structural damage. The driver, however, had bailed out of the car and fled the area on foot before authorities arrived.
Police say a search for the driver proved unsuccessful. Witnesses, however, say the man behind the wheel had visible injuries.

The vehicle was traced to an owner in Dunedin, an email from the police department said. The owner told officers he loaned the vehicle to a friend back on Christmas Day and hasnβt seen it since.
As for the people inside the home, the police department said none of the four occupants were injured.

How much damage was done to the home remains under investigation. A building inspection was pending, Sgt. Robert Faugno said.
No further details are available at this time, including the name of the person the car had reportedly been leant to.
