Coast Guard Rescues Boater Near Tarpon Springs

Coast Guard crews from Air Station Clearwater performed a sea-to-air rescue of a sick boater about 46 miles west of Tarpon Springs late Friday night.

Coast Guard crews from Air Station Clearwater and Sector St. Petersburg performed a sea-to-air rescue of a sick boater late Friday night.Β 

A call came into Sector St. Petersburg at 11:37 p.m. that a 28-year old man aboard the Private Stock, a 36-foot recreational vessel, was having stomach cramps, cold sweats and tremors, according to Coast Guard officials.

An MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew from Air Station ClearwaterΒ arrived on scene about 46 miles west of Tarpon Springs, hoisted the sick man and took him to Tampa General Hospital. He is in stable condition.
