More Kudos for Tarpon's Robotics Team!

"Team Krunch" from Tarpon Springs, a finalist in a grueling national engineering and science student competition, continues to receive kudos for its achievement.

Here is a video shared by Tarpon Patch reader Caley Burke that shows the excitement of the competiton as well as the winning Frisbee-throwing robot from Team Krunch in action! How did these kids do it?

Students in East Lake High School's Academy of Engineering, calling themselves Team Krunch, built a Frisbee-throwing robot that won first place in the "FIRST Robotics Regional Competition."

The FIRST Robotics competition was a tourney that gathered some of the brightest young competitiors in the field of mechanical engineering. More than 3,000 students competed in the robotics competition that finally narrowed to the top six.

FIRST stands for For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology

The teams will advance to the national finals at the end of April.

According to Florida FRC:

“The varsity sport for the mind,” FRC combines the excitement of sport with the rigors of science and technology. Under strict rules, limited resources, and time limits, teams of 25 students or more are challenged to raise funds, design a team “brand,” hone teamwork skills, and build and program robots to perform prescribed tasks against a field of competitors.
