Tarpon Springs Driver Rams Walgreens Building

The 74-year-old woman accelerated before striking the side of a local Walgreens.

TARPON SPRINGS - Around noon on Thursday, a single vehicle crash occurred in a Tarpon Springs Walgreens parking lot. Although there was child in the backseat, no serious injuries have been reported.

The accident occurred at the Walgreens located at 605 South Pinellas Avenue. Tarpon Springs resident, Rodopi Linardos, drove her 2004 SUV into a parked vehicle before jumping the curb, crushing a shopping cart and eventually hitting the building.

Linardos’ 4-year-old, great granddaughter was a passenger in the backseat, but only “suffered minor injuries” according to a news release.

Damage to the Walgreens location, including the shopping cart, was reported to be around $500. Both vehicles felt the impact with a combined estimate of $2,000 in damage, mostly to the SUV.

The crash is still under investigation. Alcohol is not believed to have been involved.
