Bob Robertson presented to the Board of Commissioners a string of updates surrounding the alternative water supply project on Tuesday.
During the City Commission meeting, Public Services Program Manager Bob Robertson shed some light on the current state of the long awaited alternative water supply plant.
Robertson is the project manager for the water supply plant and said that although there haven't been any milestones in the construction of the facility, he did have some information for the commissioners.
With a ground breaking just a few months back, the project continues to make good time in conjunction with its scheduled launch in April of 2015, according to Robertson.
There are no updates as far as permits go, but planning for construction of two wells on the property is in the works.
As far as design and management of the facility go, water quality sampling is underway and Wharton-Smith Construction Group are working on a 50 percent design, which is expected to be finished by August of this year.
Staff on the project are in the process of selecting an engineer to spearhead the injection well. Four firms have applied and are preparing presentations for the group. A final decision on which engineering firm to use will be made in the near future.
"That essentially summarizes the current status of the project," Robertson said before taking questions from the board.
Vice Mayor Susan Slattery raised the only question, which was "when do we expect to be operational?"
Robertson said the project is currently on track to start up on April 1, 2015.
