Community Corner
Good Afternoon, Tarpon Springs and Welcome to Patch!
A letter from your local editor, Rachel Jolley.

Dear Patch readers,
I am happy to introduce myself as the editor for Tarpon Springs Patch. Although I am new to the area, there has been no shortage of support from this fantastic community. I plan on connecting to the city by covering the topics you wish to read about. From what I have learned so far, some areas that seem to be of particular interest are small businesses, culture and economic development.
As for me, I am a Florida girl at heart. After being born and raised in St. Petersburg, I cannot imagine living anywhere that is not within 15 minutes of a public beach access.

Next to writing and photography, soccer is my passion. I played at many levels, including NCAA Division I at the University of South Alabama on an athletic scholarship. Due to chronic injury, I was forced to retire much earlier than I would have liked to. However, I stay connected to the game by coaching competitive youth teams.
And don’t worry, I plan on purchasing a Greece jersey in the near future.

My journalism career began in 2009 after I graduated from the University of South Florida with a Bachelor’s in mass communications. I started freelancing for a number of publications and knew that I had found my calling.
When Patch launched in Florida (2010), I was ecstatic and have been a “Patcher” ever since. I enjoy reporting on all stories relevant to my community, whether it is a first-person report on sponge diving or highlighting the small businesses that make Tarpon Springs such a wonderful place to live.
If there is ever free time in my schedule, I am usually outdoors enjoying mother nature. I love all sports, while time with my family, friends and children (three cats and a dog) is also a top priority. I married the love of my life in September of 2011 and we could not be happier.
Since I am new to the area, I am always looking for story ideas and tips. Feel free to contact me by emailing rachel.jolley@patch.com. You can also call me at 727-253-6511.
