Holiday Opera, Light Up the Bayou and Last Minute Shopping

If you're planning a night out or need to finish up some holiday shopping, this useful weekend planner should help you out.

• The well known holiday opera, Amahl and the Night Visitors will be performed at the Tarpon Springs Performing Arts Center on Saturday at 7 p.m. and on Sunday at 3 p.m. Performed by the Florida Lyirc Opera, the tale is one of the most frequently performed operas of the 20th century, according to the Tarpon Springs Cultural Treasures group. Tickets are $22 for non-members and $18 for members and students. Tickets can be purchased online.

• Last minute shopping questions can be answered with Tarpon Springs Patch's local guide to gifting and keeping holiday dollars in the community. • As always, the Tarpon Sunday Market will be holding down the shopping local fort at the corner of U.S. Alt. Hwy. 19 from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Food and drinks are plentiful along with live music and plenty of shopping options.

• Sunset Hills Elementary School will be lighting up the bayou on Monday night. The group will continue its annual event by selling and distributing lambathas around Spring Bayou on Christmas Eve. Find out more about the event here.
