'Mini-Museum' Honors Pappas Family, Tarpon Springs

A room in a local restaurant is dedicated to the history of the sponge docks.

Riverside Grille House is not only the event center in Tarpon Springs, but it's also home to the one and only Tarpon Springs room.

The spacious building, formerly home to the Pappas Restaurant, offers areas for dining, ceremonies and live music. There's a fire pit on the roof, which overlooks Dodecanese Boulevard.Β

With a view unlike any other restaurant in Tarpon, there is a lot more to the establishment than good food and entertainment.

The Tarpon Springs room was created to pay "tribute to the Pappas family" according to Manager, Crystal Falanga.

Lined with aged photographs that give a glimpse into Tarpon's past, the Tarpon Springs room is a must-see for locals and visitors of the area. There are even a few Greek statues for folks to have a look at.

Falanga added that the Tarpon Springs room is a lot more than just a room. She referred to it being "almost a mini-museum."Β

Riverside Grille House is located at the east end of the Tarpon Springs Sponge Docks and the Tarpon Springs room is on the first level. Just ask an employee to show you the way.

The restaurant's summer hours are Thursday from 11:30 a.m. until 10 p.m., Friday and Saturday from 11:30 a.m. until midnight and Sunday from 11 a.m. until 10 p.m.
