Nana's Restaurant Perfects French Toast With a Twist

Nana's Restaurant offers an impressive menu, hospitable service and unique recipes to boot. 

As a first timer, I stopped in for breakfast and the waitress returned twice before I decided on a meal. Finally, my eyes and belly were drawn to the #5, also known as Jimmy's Special French Toast ($5.75). The dish is complete with battered and grilled raisin bread, a homemade blueberry pecan sauce and whipped cream. 

Normally, I don't have much of a sweet tooth, but this option sparked my curiosity. To be sure I made the right decision, I asked my server if the plate was the kind where one bite could keep me satisfied for a whole day of sweetness. She assured me that since the topping was made in-house, the seemingly sugary recipe's description was a lot sweeter than the meal itself.

While I waited for my breakfast, I heard a man who seemed like a regular order the same thing. I thought, "OK, I'm in the clear." If a regular is ordering it, it must be good right? Right.

And it was. I ate the entire meal, blueberries and all. Of course there was a sweet undertone, but for my taste buds, the dish was more hearty than anything.

In addition to the good food, a few months ago, Nana's Restaurant received the Tarpon Springs Chamber of Commerce Beautification Award.
