• Open-air golf carts get the boot in Tarpon Springs (suncoastnews.com) — Tarpon Springs commissioners have scrapped plans to use open-air golf carts for a new shuttle between downtown and the Sponge Docks, ordering staff to bring back safer, weather-protected van options instead. The shuttle would feature a fast “Lightning Route” and a slower “Leisure Route,” with routes likely shifted off busy Alt. 19 to neighborhood streets like Safford Avenue for safety.
   

• Cold weather shelters opening in Pinellas County (wfla.com) — If you or a neighbor in Tarpon Springs needs a warm place Tuesday night, the Boys and Girls Club on W. Lime Street will open as a cold-weather shelter with free PSTA rides available. Several other Pinellas County locations, including sites in Clearwater, Pinellas Park, and St. Petersburg, will also offer overnight shelter, basic services, and family placements when possible.
