Rev. Wayne Farrell Appointed All Saints' Rector

The church announced the news on Wednesday.

Rev. Wayne F. Farrell, 54, was elected rector of All Saints' Episcopal Church in Tarpon Springs. 

According to All Saints' the parish was organized in 1892 and is one of the oldest churches in the Diocese of southwest Florida and the Tampa Bay region. 

"I am pleased and honored to be called as Rector of All Saints’ Episcopal Church in Tarpon Springs,” said Farrell, a lifelong Episcopalian and native of Sarasota.

In September of 2011, Farrell came to All Saints' Church and has served as priest-in-charge for the past 21 months.

Farrell will take on his new role in the fall of 2013. He will be the fourth rector of the parish.

The congregation is well known for continuing worship services in the original Florida carpenter gothic church building. 

With several deep roots in Tarpon Springs, an All Saints' founding member founded the Sponge Exchange as well as growing the sponging industry here.

"Our parish is grateful to Bishop Smith and his staff for their support during our transition,” said Farrell. "Most importantly, this congregation is thankful at being strengthened by the Holy Spirit over the past 21 months. We look forward to the new places God is leading us in mission and ministry.”
