RNC Delegates Greeted with Goodie Bags from Businesses
Leading up to the Florida delegation's visit to Tarpon Springs, 750 bags of Tarpon Springs goodies were stuffed and delivered.
With a lot of teamwork, the Tarpon Springs Chamber of Commerce and the City of Tarpon Springs connected with local businesses to pack a welcome gift for visitors from the RNC. Make that 750 welcome gifts.
The group was preparing for the arrival of more than 600 delegates that were scheduled to stay at Innisbrook Resort and Golf Course in Palm Harbor.
An assembly line of business owners, city employees and locals lined the chamber office last week. Menus and coupons were some of the items that were part of the goodie bags. Beautiful posters, showcasing landmarks in Tarpon Springs, were donated by the city and the chamber for the bags.
The Sponge Factory donated a sponge, a bar of olive oil soap and a little bottle of lotion to be put in each bag. Bookmarks from Back in the Day Books made their way into the mix as well as information about boat tours and fishing charters.
It took five trips from the car to the resort to deliver all 750 bags, but organizers agree that it was well worth the effort. Delegates were impressed with the gifts and grateful for the goodies.
Statements from visitors included “thank you” and “we’ll definitely be back.”
