Tampa Woman Killed After Crashing Into Tarpon Springs Police Vehicle
Despite the police vehicles having their emergency lights activated, troopers said the woman didn't slow down or change lanes.
TARPON SPRINGS, FL — A 24-year-old woman has died after crashing into a Tarpon Springs police vehicle Tuesday morning.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, at 2:16 a.m., the woman was driving a 2010 Hyundai Accent south on U.S. 19, just south of Sun Valley Boulevard.
A police Chevy Tahoe was stopped in the inside lane of U.S. 19 along with several other patrol vehicles for a traffic stop.

Despite the police vehicles having their emergency lights activated, troopers said the woman didn't slow down or change lanes. She collided with the rear of one of the parked police vehicles. No one was in the vehicle at the time.
She was taken to the hospital where she later died.

The southbound lanes of U.S. 19 at Sun Valley Boulevard will remain closed during this investigation.
