Tarpon Springs Area Historical Society to Host Second Lecture on Saturday
The series continues this weekend with the topic of America Discovers Tarpon Springs: The View from Outside.

On Saturday, the Tarpon Springs Area Historical Society will host the second of five lectures that will be dedicated to furthering the public's knowledge on the city.Β
The lecture will be conducted by historian and author, Dr. Gary Mormino on the view of Tarpon from an outside perspective.
The series,Β Celebrating Community: Tarpon Springs A Continuum of 125 Years, will run through March of 2013, each month hosting a different topic.Β

After reaching a milestone anniversary of 125 years, the City of Tarpon Springs joined forces with the Tarpon Springs Area Historical Society to figure out the best way to celebrate. A grant was funded by theΒ Florida Department of State, Division of Historical Resource and the lecture series was born.Β

According to Cyndi Tarapani, President of the Historical Society, the series will offer a one-of-a-kind education on the city and its history.Β
"Maybe everybody doesn't go to all five, but I think if you went to all five you would have an unbelievable masters degree in Tarpon Springs History," Tarapani said.
Lectures will be held atΒ 4 p.m.Β sharp at theΒ Tarpon Springs Heritage Museum, located atΒ 100 Beekman Lane in Craig Park. The events areΒ freeΒ and open to the public. A lightΒ receptionΒ will follow each lecture.Β
