Update: Tarpon Springs Man, 19, Hurt in ATV Crash

The victim suffered life threatening injuries in Saturday's crash and was still hospitalized in critical condition Monday, according to Tarpon Springs Police.

Update, 1:40 p.m.:

The 19-year-old victim in Saturday's all-terrain vehicle accident is still listed in critical condition at Bayfront Medical Center in St. Petersburg, authorities said Monday afternoon.

He has been identified as Ian Carlos Ondina-Gonzalez, according to the Tarpon Springs Police Department.

Ondina-Gonzalez crashed his ATV around 8:30 p.m. Saturday near the intersection of Lake Avoca Drive and South Pointe Alexis Drive, police said.

He was reportedly traveling from his home on Lake Avoca Drive to the clubhouse area of the Pointe Alexis subdivision when he had difficulty with a turn, left the roadway and struck a tree, police said.

Ondina-Gonzalez was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, authorities said.

He was taken to the hospital by Bayflite helicopter with what officials said were life-threatening injuries.
