Tarpon Springs Tortoises Relocated to New Home
Twenty endangered gopher tortoises were rescued from the construction site of the new Keystone Springs subdivision and will be released in the Florida Panhandle, TBO.com reports.

Twenty gopher tortoises were saved this week from the construction site of the new Keystone Springs subdivision off Old East Lake Road, TBO.com reports.
The reptiles were dug out of their burrows by rescuers from the Humane Society of the United States, working in cooperation with the builder, Deeb Family Homes.

The tortoises found at the site ranged in age from 1 to more than 50 years old, according to TBO.com, which reports that the reptiles can live to be 100.
They will be released on Nokuse Plantation, a 50,000-acre wilderness in the Florida Panhandle, TBO reports.
