Tarpon Tunes in to Local Musicians

The city is home to a variety of musical talent, from guitar and percussion to jazz and alternative.

As if the Greek culture, great food and scenic spots aren’t enough, Tarpon Springs is also home base for a slew of artists.

Not only do photographers, sculptors and painters use the community for inspiration, but rhythmically inclined individuals use Tarpon Springs as a platform to share their music.

Musicians from around the area are helping grow the entertainment scene by hosting live music nights and open jam sessions. We’ve rounded up a list of local venues that have consistent live music that spans all genres, so there’s a tune to match each listener’s taste.

Eco-Bean Organic Coffee House (501 North Pinellas Avenue) hosts a weekly jam session that is open to the public. A musical pow wow begins at 6pm and guests are encouraged to bring friends and family. The open sessions were previously held every other Tuesday, but due to the growing popularity, the evening has become a weekly occurrence.

After years of hosting weddings, dances and other social events on Sunset Beach (west end of Gulf Road), the City of Tarpon Springs teamed up with a group of local volunteers to form Friends of Music on the Beach. The group organizes free concerts, distributes fliers and manage the gathering. For a complete list of upcoming shows, including one tonight, visit Music on the Beach online.
