Teen Arrested in TJ Maxx Molestation Case

Breaking: Tarpon Springs Police say a teenage boy has been arrested on lewd and lascivious molestation charges.

TARPON SPRINGS, FL — The Tarpon Springs Police Department has announced an arrest in a Saturday molestation case that reportedly occurred at TJ Maxx.

According to the agency, a 6-year-old child was approached by a young man in the bathroom of the 40968 U.S. 19 N. store. The male was accused of inappropriately touching the child and attempting to take photographs.

On Monday, police released a surveillance photo of a person wanted in connection with the case. That photo resulted in numerous tips, enabling Detective Scarpati to identify the male wanted for questioning, the agency noted in an email to media.

A 16-year-old boy was brought into custody at 4:43 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 28, the agency said. The teen, who is not being identified by Patch due to his age, now faces lewd and lascivious molestation charges.
