Winds Pick Up as Andrea Passes Through

Tarpon Springs saw some rain this morning, but as Tropical Storm Andrea continues her path over the coast and central Florida, wind gusts are starting to pick up.

With Tropical Storm Andrea's arrival on Thursday morning, Tarpon Springs was hit with rain, dark skies and light winds.

Southern Pinellas saw far more action from Andrea with a tornado touchdown in Gulfport and flooding in St. Pete.

However, experts are warning residents to stay on alert through the remainder of Andrea as bands of foul weather continue to batter central Florida and the Gulf Coast.

Forecasters at the Weather Channel say winds are peaking close to 30 mph and predict that another bout of storms could pass through Tarpon between 5 and 6 p.m.

Isolated storms are expected throughout the weekend with rain and lightning.

In the last 24 hours, the Weather Channel estimates that Tarpon received about 1.55 inches of rain.
