4th-Grader Replaces Temple Terrace Police Chief For A Day

On April 12, fourth-grader Luke Ray got his chance to see what it's like to be the police chief of a city.

TEMPLE TERRACE, FL β€” He may be a bit shorter than the average police officer and he doesn't yet shave, but a 10-year-old student from Corpus Christie Catholic School in Temple Terrace proved he has all the makings of a fine police officer β€” when he's a bit older, that is.

During the school's Gala for Giving fundraiser, the city donated gift baskets with invitations for students to serve as police chief, fire chief and mayor for a day that were auctioned off at the event, raising $820.

On April 12, fourth-grader Luke Ray got his chance to see what it's like to be the police chief of a city when he replaced Temple Terrace Police Chief Ken Albano for the day, presiding over staff meetings with detectives at city hall, investigating a crime scene and interrogating "suspects."
