78th Street/Harney Road Intersection Improvements Discussed Tonight

The public is invited to attend a meeting Monday evening to learn more about proposed improvements to the intersection.

Hillsborough County is having a public meeting Monday to talk about proposed improvements to the intersection of 78th Street and Harney Road, according to a county news release.

The meeting will take place at All People’s Life Center, 6105 E. Sligh Ave., at 6:30 p.m. County staff will be at the meeting to discuss the details of the project and answer resident questions.

The proposed improvements include the installation of a new traffic signal with mast arms, and wheelchair-friendly ramps and pedestrian crosswalks, the release states. Construction is expected to begin in the fall of 2012 and cost $330,000.

Proposed future improvements include additional turn lanes, lane re-configuration, sidewalks and bicycle lanes, and speed limit changes, according to the release.
