Apartment Fire Displaces 2 Families
The fire was caused by discarded smoking materials, according to Tampa Fire Rescue investigators.

Tampa Fire Rescue units responded to a two-alarm structure fire Monday at the , 11613 N. 50th St.
As fire crews approached the scene, they saw a moderate amount of smoke coming from a second floor apartment, according to a press release from Tampa Fire Rescue. It took firefighters approximately 20 minutes to get the fire under control. No one was injured, but an estimated $75,000 of damage was caused to two second-floor apartments.
Investigators questioned witnesses on the scene. One said he smelled and saw smoke coming from a storage room on his balcony. He said he tried to put the fire out with a fire extinguisher but was unable to because the smoke and flames had grown.

Investigators determined that the fire spread into a neighborβs apartment, the release states. They said discarded smoking materials caused the fire.
