Temple Terrace Woman's Club Plants Pinwheels To Prevent Child Abuse
The local initiative aims to raise awareness of healthy families and safe communities.

TEMPLE TERRACE, FL — The GFWC Temple Terrace Juniors, Temple Terrace Woman's Club and Temple Terrace Juniorettes have come together to raise awareness about the prevention of child abuse in their community by planting pinwheels around Temple Terrace.
In 2008, Prevent Child Abuse America launched the Pinwheels for Prevention® campaign, which uses pinwheels as a symbol of the happy, carefree childhood that all children deserve. The campaign aims to promote healthy families and safe communities by reminding people that they all play a role in children's lives. Pinwheels represent childlike whimsy and lightheartedness, and the vision for a world where all children grow up happy, healthy and prepared to succeed in supportive families and communities.
"Whether you are a business or corporation enacting policies that impact the work-life balance of your employees or a neighbor who offers a respite from the demands of parenting, we all have an effect on the lives of children," said a representative from the GFWC Temple Terrace Juniors. "Children who are raised with safe, stable and nurturing relationships and environments are more academically and financially successful and grow up to be productive, contributing members of their communities. Pinwheels are a reminder that we all play a role in children's lives."
