Man, 21, Dies in Overnight Traffic Crash

Karim Mitwalli, 21, of Temple Terrace, was killed Monday night when his motorcycle crashed into a car at the intersection of Temple Terrace Highway and Central Park Drive, according to the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office.

At approximately 10:18 p.m., Mitwalli was driving his 2007 Honda motorcycle east bound on Temple Terrace Highway “at a high rate of speed,” the sheriff’s office said. At the same time, a 2009 Honda Pilot driven by Torrence Knighton, 33, of Tampa, was leaving the Central Park Apartments, attempting to turn east.

The car turned into the path of the motorcycle, and the motorcycle collided with the right side of the car, the sheriff’s office said.

Mitwalli, who was wearing a helmet, died at the scene, the sheriff’s office said. Knighton wasn’t injured.
