Pet of the Week

Calvin is the friendliest cat ever, according to his owner, Jody Harwood.

Calvin the cat belongs to Dr. Valerie J. (Jody) Harwood, who works at . Jody says:

Calvin was a stray cat who was chased up a tree at Black Dog Farm in Plant City by dogs. The farm’s owner and a friend were lifted in a tractor bucket to rescue him. Not only did he not run away, he came to them! That’s an unusual cat.

My friend knew I would be receptive to a new cat because one of ours had recently passed away due to kidney failure, and from the minute I opened the door of the crate out at the barn, he was my cat.

When he first came to our house he was very dirty and skinny, having lived a very hard life as a stray, but he is now quite beautiful and rather vain about his appearance.

Calvin has maintained his demeanor as the friendliest cat ever. He is the life of every party. He loves to play in water, and makes a chirping sound as he runs around the house.

Calvin was an indoor/outdoor cat for some time; but he got in a fight with another cat and had a bad bone infection in his paw. Although his paw finally healed, he is minus one toe and is now an indoor cat, a luxury he agrees with!

Calvin’s only really bad habit is that he lurks around the table every morning, hoping to get one of my omega 3 vitamins.
