Ribbon-Cutting For Riverfront Preserve Canceled Due To Rain, Cold Snap

The city of Temple Terrace has canceled the planned opening of the new bike trails at Riverfront Preserve due to the cold snap.

Update: The ribbon-cutting for the expanded hiking trails and off-road bicycle trails at Riverfront Preserve in Temple Terrace scheduled for Saturday, Jan. 14, has been canceled due to extremely wet conditions on the trails and the impending cold front. Updates on a future event will be announced.

TEMPLE TERRACE, FL β€” The public is invited to join Temple Terrace Mayor Andy Ross and other city officials and staff to celebrate the official opening of expanded hiking trails and off-road bicycle trails at Riverfront Preserve, 6324 Temple Terrace Highway, Saturday, Jan. 14, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The enhancements to the trails were made possible through a partnership with Swamp Mountain Bike Club Inc., a 501c3 group focused on advocacy for mountain biking and natural surface trail recreation in the greater Tampa Bay area.

Funding for the project was obtained by the Swamp Bike Club through a grant from REI Co-op.

After opening remarks from city and Swamp officials and a ribbon-cutting, there will be guided trail rides for the public.

Representatives from the Center for Urban Transportation Research, University Bicycle Center and REI Tampa also will be on hand for the festivities.

In addition to bike trails, the 108-acre Riverfront Preserve offers hiking trailing, fishing, bird watching and shelters.
