Rimbey, Vance Win City Council Race

Grant Rimbey and Eddie Vance have unseated incumbent Mary Jane Neale.

City Councilwoman Mary Jane Neale, the only incumbent in any Temple Terrace race, has been unseated by opponents Grant Rimbey and Eddie Vance.

Rimbey, a community activist and project manager at an architecture firm, received 5,313 votes, or 36.19 percent. Vance, a regional vice president for Suncoast Schools Federal Credit Union and president of the King High School PTSA received 4,860 votes, or 33.10 percent. Neale was left with 4,508 votes, which added up to 30.71 percent. A total of 14,681 votes were cast in the race, according to the Hillsborough County Supervisor of Election Office.

Neale, first elected in 2008, was seeking a second term. Councilman Ron Govin’s seat was also available during this election cycle because Govin had reached his term limit.

The new mayor and City Council are scheduled to be sworn in at the next Temple Terrace City Council meeting, which begins at 6 p.m. Nov. 20.

Results are considered unofficial until they are certified by the state of Florida.
