Temple Terrace to Host Expo All About Seniors

In-home care companies, health facilities and older adult programs are just some of the services that will be on display March 8 during the 24th annual Temple Terrace Senior Expo.

The event will take place 9 a.m.-1 p.m. at the Family Recreation Complex. It’s free and offers seniors and their families “a chance to meet one-on-one with representatives of area businesses and agencies that cater to their needs,” according to a City of Temple Terrace press release.

Businesses and organizations will be distributing information, answering questions and demonstrating their products and services. According to the release, few participants include:

• West Central Florida Area Agency on Aging
• Elder Justice Center
• Osher Lifelong Learning Institute
• Rocky Creek Retirement Village
• Home Instead Senior Care, Inc.
• Seniors in Service of Tampa Bay
• Hillsborough County Aging Services
• United Healthcare
• Nantucket Bay Senior Apartments
• Tampa Bay Lighthouse for the Blind
• Lifestyles After 50 Magazine
• Museum of Science and Industry
• Well Care

A free continental breakfast will be available at 8 a.m. on a first-come, first-served basis, according to the release. And, a free “to go” lunch will be served from 11:30 a.m. to noon, courtesy of Hillsborough County Aging Services.

“There will be musical entertainment, door prizes, bingo and other fun-filled activities,” the release states. “Many City of Temple Terrace departments will be on hand, too, with personnel ready to answer questions and provide brochures and other handouts.”

Also during the event, anyone can bring expired, unused or unwanted medicines and prescription drugs to the event between 9 a.m. and noon and drop them off through Operation Medicine Cabinet. According to the release, the Temple Terrace Police Department and Home Instead Senior Care are presenting the program. Police officers will take the medications to a hazardous waste collection site for disposal.
