USF Celebrates Homecoming With Carnival, Parade, Football

Parts of the 15th homecoming celebration are open to the community.

is celebrating its 15th homecoming all week, and a carnival, night parade and football game are open to the public.

According to a USF press release, the community can take part in the family-friendly Homecoming Carnival Thursday from 4 p.m. to midnight. The carnival will take place in the Meadows, located at the corner of 50th Street and USF Holly Drive. The event features music and dance performances by students and local groups, as well as rides and games.

On Friday, the community is invited to the Running of the Bulls Night Parade at 7 p.m., the release states. The parade will start at USFΒ Alumni Drive and Leroy Collins Blvd., continue toΒ USFΒ Maple Drive, and end onΒ USFΒ Holly Drive.Β The parade has 80 participants, includingΒ USF’s Herd of Thunder marching band and 55 floats from student organizations, university departments and community businesses. This year’s parade Grand Marshall is Lee Roy Selmon Jr.

TheΒ Parade After PartyΒ will also take place in the Meadows, from 8 p.m. to midnight, according to the release. Attendees can participate in carnival rides and the evening’s professional entertainment lineup, which includes hiphop artists The Cool Kids, Hoodie Allen, Chiddy Bang, and Travis Porter. According to USF, the entertainment is recommended for adults only.

Kick-off for theΒ Superbull XVΒ football game against Cincinnati is scheduled for noon on Saturday at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa. The public can buy tickets through Ticketmaster directly or viaΒ www.gousfbulls.com.

For both the parade and after party, evening parking on campus is free in designated lots, the release states.
