USF’s Lecture Series Begins Monday

The series is free and open to the public.

The student-run University Lecture Series at the Tampa campus features an eclectic line-up. The speakers – all selected by students – include a hip-hop artist, a Ugandan activist group, an Arthur Ashe Courage Award recipient, a major network news war correspondent and the stars of MTV’s “The Buried Life.”  

All lectures in the series are free to USF students, faculty, staff and the general public.

The series begins Monday at 8 p.m. with rapper Common in the Marshall Student Center Ballroom, followed by: 

  • The team of documentary filmmakers known as Invisible Children – Oct. 5, 6 p.m., Marshall Student Center Oval Theater
  •  2011 Arthur Ashe Courage Award winner Dewey Bozella – Oct. 24, 8 p.m., Marshall Student Center Ballroom 
  • South African TV and radio journalist and CBS war correspondent Lara Logan – Nov. 17, 8 p.m., Marshall Student Center Ballroom 
  • Hip hop intellectual and commentator Marc Lamont Hill – Jan. 19, 2012, 8 p.m., Marshall Student Center Ballroom 
  • The “bucket list” adventure stars of MTV’s ‘The Buried Life’ – Feb. 21, 8 p.m., Marshall Student Center Ballroom 
  • American Hasidic musician who fuses rap, reggae and Orthodox Judaism, Matisyahu – March 1, 2012, 8 p.m., Marshall Student Center Ballroom
