FromΒ Tiffany Sperry, LewisΒ PTA member serving as yearbook adviser, publicity representative and historian:
On Friday, had its annual , a walk-a-thon to raise money for tutoring programs, enrichment activities, books, stage lighting and sound systems for student performances and other programs. Students walked by grade levels to fun music, as teachers and faculty cheered them along the way. They received check marks for each lap they completed. The Swashbuckling sisters, Jennifer Terry (PTA president) and Cyndi Keding (PTA VP-Programs), entertained everyone, and two lucky students won a drawing for a pirate makeover from getting a certain amount of pledges thus far.
After the walk, students received a special drink donated by Planet Smoothie. The day ended with a friendly and fun volleyball competition between the staff. Students have been collecting pledges for several weeks. The school goal is to raise $25,000. Donations are still being accepted by contacting Lewis Elementary at 813-987-6947 or making an online donation at www.lewispta.com.
