County’s Small Business Information Center Reaches Out to Hispanic Community

Hillsborough's Hispanic population grew 25 percent over the last decade, according to recent U.S. Census Bureau information.

Responding to a Hispanic population increase of 25 percent over the last decade in Hillsborough, the county's Economic Development Department is enhancing services to help Hispanic entrepreneurs succeed with their businesses.

The Department’s Small Business Information Center (SBIC) is offering additional business technical assistance to Hispanics including:

  • Free bilingual Spanish/English counseling for entrepreneurs who want to start or expand their business and create more jobs.
  • Free visits by SBIC Business Counselors to established Hispanic businesses in the community to provide valuable information on business operations.
  • Education and assistance to help Hispanic business owners become certified as minority businesses and achieve the Minority Business Enterprise/Small Business Enterprise (MBE/SBE) Certification, increasing opportunities to better tap business prospects with the local government.
  • Free informative seminars and workshops as part of the technical assistance education program to enhance the economic development of the Hillsborough County business community.

Register online for free individual counseling and workshops at https://sbic.hillsboroughcounty.org or call (813) 914-4028 ext. 62007 for more information.  You can visit the Small Business Information Center at Corporate Square, 7402 N. 56th  St., Bldg. 400, Ste. 425 in Tampa.
