Fiery Involving Semi Truck Claims Pickup Truck Driver's Life

TAMPA, FL — A driver has died in a fiery crash after losing control of his pickup truck on the Veterans Expressway and colliding with a tractor-trailer truck.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, at 1:20 p.m. Friday, the pickup truck driver was heading north on the expressway north of Hillsborough Avenue when he lost control. The pickup entered the outside shoulder and collided with a concrete barrier wall. The pickup truck was then propelled back onto the expressway where it hit the right side driver axles of the semi truck driven by a 52-year-old Brandon man.

The collision caused the semi truck to jackknife and both vehicles collided with the barrier wall and caught fire.
