No Video Taken of Bulgarian Women, Authorities Say

The criminal investigation into a case involving two Bulgarian students who say they may have been secretly videotaped by a Westchase restaurant owner has ended, according to the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office.

Raj Armani, owner of and the man who placed the women in the apartment, was not charged.

The sheriff's office investigation revealed that there were cameras installed in the apartment, but that they were not connected to anything. There were no transmitting or recording devices
capable of recording or capturing any images from the cameras, according to a report issued Friday by the sheriff's office.

The suit accuses Armani of video voyeurism, invasion of privacy and intentional infliction of emotional distress.

Armani is the owner of in Westchase. The restaurant closed its doors this week.

The began unfolding in late July when the women say they began to question whether the smoke detectors in their apartment were actually cameras.

When Hillsborough County Sheriff's deputies arrived, they observed what appeared to be covert video cameras in the living room, bedrooms and bathroom, according to a report released by the sheriff's office.

The women worked for Armani in various roles, including at a new venture called Pizza Babes. According to the lawsuit, Armani rented a three-bedroom apartment to be used by the women for $300 a month.
