Photos Released In Movie Theater Fire Stunt Case
Deputies are asking for help identifying a person who may have information about a recent incident at Regal Cinemas Citrus Park.
CITRUS PARK, FL — As the search for the person or people responsible for clearing out a busy Regal Cinemas movie theater in Citrus Park last month continues, Hillsborough County Sheriff’s deputies have released photos of a person they would like to speak to. The stunt in question involved the activation of the theater’s fire extinguisher, causing carbon dioxide to be pumped into the room.
The person in the photos released by the sheriff’s office on March 6 has not been characterized as a suspect. Instead, a Monday email from the agency, said detectives want to see if “he has any pertinent information regarding the incident.”
That incident occurred just before 8:40 p.m. on Feb. 25 in theater No. 20. Deputies said patrons tried to get out of the theater by the main door, but discovered it had been barricaded. Patrons were able to get out using the emergency exit. No injuries were reported in the incident that was initially described as a “prank” by the sheriff’s office.
