Songstress Geri X Performing Live
Catch her at Mellow Mushroom, 11955 Sheldon Road, Tampa, FL 33626 on Sunday, Aug. 21 at 6:30pm.

She's been featured in Rolling Stone Magazine, awarded Best Singer Songwriter by Creative Loafing and is set to perform in the UK.
But that hasn't gotten to the emerald green-coiffed head of singer, songwriter Geri X. When not touring the country, the Bulgarian born songstress sticks close to her hometown of St. Petersburg, playing several dates throughout Tampa Bay.
She brings her earthy, melodic talents to on Sunday for a live performance. Patch caught up with Geri recently. Here's what we learned:

Patch: You've been called the "Queen of Indie Folk." Do you agree with the title?
Geri X: I've always thought that giving nicknames to artists was bias. I don't know what I am, but I'm definitely not a queen and even more so not of indie folk. I play music. I'm a musician and a songwriter.

Patch: You're known for heartfelt live performances as well as meaningful song writing. Which would you say you're most at home doing?
Geri X: I write a lot at home. Every night almost.
Patch: I read that you were classically trained in piano and guitar...how did the guitar win out?
Geri X: I was forced to play piano as a kid so guitar was a personal choice. Its always better to choose what you want to do, it makes it more exciting.
Patch: You've got a show coming up in the UK. How does performing in Europe differ from the states?
Geri X: I'm not sure. This will be my first European tour. I hope it goes well.
Patch: I know this is random, but your bob hair cut in that FB profile pic is awesome. Care to give your stylist a shout out?
Geri X: I cut my hair. I always have cut and dyed it myself.
Patch: Thanks for your time, anything else you'd like to share that I left out?
Geri X: Thanks for interviewing me! I wanna say that people can find upcoming shows and music and videos on my website www.Gerixmusic.com along with my blogs and latest news and a copy of my Rolling Stone article as well.
