Tampa Electric Launches Website Devoted to Electric Cars

The web tool can assist anyone considering purchasing an electric car.

Today we brought you a great about Tampa Bay's first all electric car dealership in Pinellas County.

Here in Hillsborough, Tampa Electric today made yet another step towards a change in the landscape of transportation with its launch of a website devoted to educating the public about .

The site at tampaelectric.com/ev provides customers with information about the types of electric vehicles on the market, charging options and savings.

"We developed this site to provide our customers with a reliable source of
information," said Kenneth Hernandez, program manager of the company's
alternative fuel vehicle initiatives, in a statement released by TECO. "We want to help our customers be as informed as possible before buying and do everything possible to make electric vehicle ownership a positive experience."

In 2009, TECO along with other U.S. utilitie companies, made a pledge to the Edison Electric Institute to raise awareness about electric cars and to introduce the cars into their working fleet.

Later this year, Tampa Electric will add the Nissan LEAF and Chevrolet Volt to
its Green Fleet, which includes plug-in hybrid electric and standard
hybrid electric vehicles as well as other vehicles that run on clean-burning
natural gas, according to the release.

On the newly launched website, people can read about what to look for when considering buying an electric car, the permitting process and how other useful facts.
